Have Questions? Will Answer! – Selling Gold Topics.

by Chris on March 18, 2010

Many people have been asking me specific questions about gold and selling gold since I started my website.  Do you remember what your mother said?  ”Ask and you shall receive!”.

Well OK, maybe your mom did not say that, but ask a question and I’ll answer it and put it into the new  ”QUESTIONS” department.

how much should a fair price be for a 10KT gold ring?

There are 3 pieces of information that are needed to determine the price of a gold object:
1. Weight
2. Purity (karat)
3. Current price of gold.

Take your gold ring down to a jewelry store and they will have a scale to weight it for you.

I have 3 questions:

1. If you have, say 25 grams of gold in necklaces and bracelets, how much would it be worth?

2. How many grams does it take to make an ounce of gold?

3. If gold is selling for 1750.00 and ounce what would 25 grams bring?

Roy,

To answer your first question:
We need to know what karat or purity the gold really is. This can be determined by a couple of methods, but look for a stamp on the gold somewhere. An example of what to look for is this picture.

14K stamp example

It takes 31.1034768 grams of gold to equal one troy ounce of gold.

Lastly, what you can get for 25 grams of gold will very from gold buyer to gold buyer. One of the most reputable gold buyers I know is KMG Gold. They have a price page located HERE

Remember, the price of gold goes up and down, so check often and compare pricing to get the best value.
